Beattie Jewelry

From my first days in Second Life, I've been fortunate to be associated with some of the most talented designers around the globe. Better still, I've been able to call them friend and in the case of Crowie Beattie of Beattie Jewelry, I've been honored to call this exceptional designer a "brother from another mother."

From the very start, Mr. Beattie's  work gained recognition for quality and artistic flair. His designs are timeless, classic, modern and always contains a touch of whimsy that makes his pieces not only squeal worthy, but one of a kind.

During one of our infrequent inpromtu WL parties, I managed to snag Mr/ Beattie for a quick interview while "shaking his butt" in turtle garb. That will make more sense as I go on, but trust me, it was the best way to capture the attention of this fab designer for a little insight into his world.

WL - Crowie, what is your moto for Second Life?

CB - I want to do everything in Second Life!

WL - How did you come up with your name here in Second Life?

CB - Crowies name is derived from the real life character in the movie "The Crow."

WL - How did you get discover SL?

CB - A friend

WL - Ah a turtle of few words!

CB - (gentle laugh)

WL -  What did you first do in SL?

CB - I have come here with a friend. I explored a little, then went to "free dungeon" and shopped. I started to pull things apart to see how people made things.

WL - What was your first business in SL?

CB - Mmm, the sea waves. It was very well received

WL - How many business have you had in SL?

CB - Two, I had sea waves and jewelry

WL - Whi one has been the most success and personally fulfilling?

CB -  The jewelry

WL - You  you received any rewards or accolades for your jewelry creations?

CB - No awards because I believe they have to discover you. I am not looking for success. If people says they like my things and want to reward me, then I prefer it to come to me.

WL - What has been your favorite collectiont hat you have?

CB - The motorcycles and the Tibetan style from the video "Crash"

The video he references is Enrique Iglesias' "If the world crashes down"

WL - How long does it toake you to create a piece of jewlery from start to finsh?

CB - For a ring, it takes about a day, and for something more complex like diamond 4 or 5 days. A regular ring an hour.

WL - What inspries you?

CB - Since I was little I have liked glitter, like copper - I always liked shiny things. And when I was younger I made things in copper. I have made jewerly in real life in the past.

WL - what do you do in sl to relax and have fun?

CB - (laughs) I change my shop around. I do not know the word relax.

Thank you Crowie for allowing WL into your world.

No sooner than the interview was done, Crowie "shook his turtle butt" and headed back to work. Note to our readers, when things get a little slow at Wedding Lane, we always take time out for a little fun. Usually, I start and the guys pick up and off we go. Our favorite time waster? Gesture mania, hence the "turtle butt" dance.
